
Katyuli is an artist, published illustrator and designer. She is available for commissions, including portraits, book illustrations and watercolour and ink home interior illustrations.
Of English, Russian and French heritage, Katyuli spent a lot of her childhood on the artistic Greek island of Hydra, where the family still divide their time. She went to Marlborough College, Wiltshire, and then Clare College, Cambridge, where she read Russian and Modern Greek (2004-8). From 2014-2016, she completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art.
Katyuli’s illustrations for Virginia Woolf’s novel Flush, 1933, were short-listed for the V&A Illustration Awards 2016 . These came out in an edition (Prosymne Press, London, 2018) featuring a Preface by John Sutherland, Emeritus Professor of English at UCL and is available to buy in all major bookshops in the U.K. A Portuguese edition (published by Autêntica Editora, Brazil, and translated by Tomaz Tadeu), featuring the illustrations was also published in 2016 and is available to buy Here.
In May 2017, Katyuli produced new book cover designs and internal illustrations for The Folio Society’s editions of Patrick Leigh Fermor’s Mani (1958) and Roumeli (1966).
Katyuli has sold her designs at The British Museum, The Fitzwilliam Museum, the Benaki Museum, Athens as well as Tate, St Ives.
Katyuli was Artist-in-Residence at Marlborough College from 2020-21, where her exhibition ‘Marlborough College in 100 Portraits’, at The Mount House Gallery, June 2021, featured over 140 portraits of a cross section of the college.
